Andy and Eeva moved to Penpynfarch in 2003 after living in London and Nottingham. Having both grown up close to some beautiful and remote landscapes (in the Welsh Borders and Arctic Finland) we were drawn to the wildness of this valley and the simplicity of it's old buildings and have been happy to make it home for our family and place of work for the last 16 years.
Our aim has been to create a space where visitors can immerse themselves for a while in the quiet of the natural world and so to be restored by it and learn from it. It is always a pleasure to welcome people here whether they are coming just to unwind and relax or to engage in creative or reflective work.
We combine our British and Finnish taste and sensibility in how we make the cottages and their environs friendly and cosy. We try and take care of things which have patina, and mix them with a fresh, clean touch. We manage the land with a light touch and enjoy following the process of re-wilding happening in our little valley.
Andy and Eeva have been involved for many years in the field of performance, theatre and dance with a particular focus on movement and the body. Eeva is a performer and also works extensively in the community teaching and facilitating creative movement with people of all ages from 4 to 104. Andy is a movement teacher and Feldenkrais practitioner and works with groups and individuals. Together we form the partnership this is somatic...” and teach and co-ordinate a programme of workshops here at Penpynfarch.
